MODELS 1885 AND 1904 McCLELLAN SADDLE LARIAT LOOPS:  This single leather strap with a snap hook on one end and a standing leather loop on the other was issued during the Indian War – Spanish American War period for attaching the coiled lariat to the saddle equipment rings.  While the later russet leather Model 1904 Lariat Straps are seen occasionally, the earlier Model 1885 Straps were used up through the years of service and seldom appear on the market today.

I have the following Lariat Loops available, each listed below with the description and accompanying photographs.

NO. 1  MODEL 1885 LARIAT LOOP:  This strap shows evidence of issue, bearing unit applied inventory numbers.  The leather still retains a nice smooth surface, and it is a strong, pliable specimen.  The snap hook is complete and is fully functional.

This is a very nice specimen to add to your late Indian War or Spanish American War saddle display.  (0137) $100

NO. 2  MODEL 1904 LARIAT LOOP:  This strap shows evidence of issue, bearing unit applied inventory numbers, "11 K 22", indicating it was issued in the 11TH Cavalry Regiment, Troop K, to soldier number 22.  The strap is arsenal marked, "R.I.A. 1904" with the inspector's initials.  The leather still retains a nice smooth surface, and it is a strong, pliable specimen.  The snap hook is complete and is fully functional.

This is a very nice specimen to add to your Model 1904 McClellan Saddle display.  (0174) $100

NO. 3  MODEL 1885 LARIAT LOOP:  This strap shows evidence of issue, bearing unit applied inventory numbers.  The leather is a little stiff and could use some conditioning, but it is overall still pliable.  The surface has some crazing, but still retains a decent surface.  The snap hook is complete and is fully functional.

This is a very nice specimen to add to your late Indian War or Spanish American War saddle display.  (0429) $75

NO. 4  MODEL 1885 LARIAT LOOP:  This strap shows evidence of issue, bearing unit applied inventory numbers.  The leather is overall pliable.  The surface is crazed, but the leather is still strong with no weak points.  The snap hook is complete and is fully functional.  This is a very nice specimen to add to your late Indian War or Spanish American War saddle display.   (0173) $65
