7.  MILLS CARTRIDGE BELT MODEL 1873 BAYONET HANGER WIRE: Original Indian War Period US Army issue Brass Bayonet Scabbard Hanger Wire for attaching the Model 1873 scabbards to the Mills Woven Cartridge Belts. The leather loop of the Model 1873 Bayonet Scabbard, designed for use on the 2” wide Model 1872 Waist Belt, required this brass wire hanger in order to carry the bayonet on the wider Mills belts.  This Brass Hanger Wire was fed into the leather loop of the bayonet scabbard and then the ends of the hanger were attached to the Mills Belt through the pairs of grommets on the belt.  This wire hanger preceded the more familiar Model 1887 Trapdoor Bayonet Scabbard with the large brass flat belt hook on the swivel.  These wire hangers are no longer commonly found on the loose and are representative of an important stage in the development of the Indian War Infantry equipment.  $35

8.  ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL MODEL 1876 EXPERIMENTAL PRAIRIE BELT BRASS INTERIOR STRAP HOOK:  These are the original brass loop hooks used in the manufacture of the Experimental Model 1876 Prairie Belts at the Rock Island Arsenal.  This hook was mounted on the end of the additional leather belt strap attached on the inside of the right side of the canvas belt attached by a line of stitching between the 18th and 19th cartridge loops.  The interior strap was added so that the soldier could carry the Model 1873 Angular Bayonet or the Model 1873 Trowel Bayonet, or other accoutrements such as a rifle or carbine cartridge pouch, or pistol cartridge pouch that had been modified to use with this belt.  You can view the full belt with this fitting via this link:  M1876 Experimental Prairie Belt

An extremely rare Indian Wars belt fitting, with only 100 of the belts being made at the arsenal, the production of these brass hooks must have been very small.  Have a very limited number of these.  SOLD
