ORIGINAL SHARPS CARBINE FORE STOCKS –
LIKE NEW OLD STOCK: These are original fore
stocks for Model
1859-1868 Sharps Carbines. Maintained in the US Army
inventory, these fore stocks were apparently intended as
replacement pieces to refurbish the carbines, as each
bears the inspector’s initials, yet appear to be
unused. This is a one time offering of these scarce
replacement pieces, discovered recently in an old
collection and they are not the sort of pieces I would
expect to see again.
Each is described in detail below with accompanying
photographs.

#3 Original
Models 1859-1868 Sharps Carbine Fore Arm: In
unissued condition, this fore arm has a little more sign
of age from storage and handling. It is complete with
the steel screw washer, but no barrel band spring
(easily obtained). The inspector’s stamp on the swell
that mates with the breech block is bright and legible.
There is some discoloration to the wood which would
decrease with an applied oil finish. The wood is
overall smooth, but there are some handling marks and
light marks along the tops of the barrel channel edge.
However, all the other edges are sharp and there are no
cracks, splints, or heavy dings.
