CIVIL WAR ARTILLERY
PROJECTILE FUSE ADAPTER:
This original Civil War Fuse Adapter was purchased from
the Bannerman Island stocks and was found in a US Army
crate stenciled “ARMSTRONG 1865”, suggesting it was
intended to be used in the well known Armstrong
Artillery Shells. In like new, unused condition, this
Fuse Adapter, stamped on the top surface “UNSCREW” with
a directional arrow as a prompt for the Artilleryman
under the stress of combat, still retains its original
bright blue arsenal finish, with no evidence of wear,
age or corrosion, and with clear, sharp threads.
Employed as a method of securing the timed fuse to the
artillery projectile, this adapter measures
approximately 1.800 long, the top flange is
approximately 1.2 in diameter, and the heavy threaded
section is approximately 1” long. This piece is a nice
addition for your Civil War Artillery collection in
excellent condition. $125
