ORIGINAL US ARMY MANUALS DATED 1908 AND 1909 FOR THE MODEL 1903 SPRINGFIELD RIFLE, CALIBER .30:  Dated 1908 and 1909, these are scarce early original editions of the operation and maintenance manuals for the Model 1903 Springfield Rifle.

I have the following original editions available, each described with accompanying photographs.

NO. 1  ORIGINAL US ARMY 1909 MANUAL FOR THE MODEL 1903 SPRINGFIELD RIFLE, CALIBER .30:  Dated 1909, this is a scarce early edition of the operation and maintenance manual for the Model 1903 Springfield Rifle.  Although having seen some use and showing some shelf wear, this early manual is complete, all of the pages and fold out plates are present and intact.

The blue cloth front and back covers show some fading and were subjected to some minor "doodling", but the cover boards are solid.  The fading on the front cover has not affected the printed title information, and the Ordnance Department logo is still legible.  The corners are solid and not dog eared, and the binding is solid and tight.

This edition includes a detailed section of providing in depth descriptions of the various types of ammunition used with this rifle, an additional 14 pages of ballistic data information and tables, and two fold out plates detailing the Arms Locker and the Arms Chest for the M1903 Rifle.  Despite the minor cosmetic wear, this is still a nice early manual that is not easy to find.  SOLD - Please see additional listing below

NO. 2  ORIGINAL US ARMY 1908 MANUAL FOR THE MODEL 1903 SPRINGFIELD RIFLE, CALIBER .30:  Dated 1908, this is a scarce early edition of the operation and maintenance manual for the Model 1903 Springfield Rifle.  Although having seen some use and improper storage, this early manual is complete, all of the pages and fold out plates are present and intact.

The blue cloth front and back covers are water stained, but the cover boards are solid.  The water stain on the front cover affected some of the printed title information, but the majority is still legible, and the Ordnance Department logo is still legible.  This exposure to moisture did not affect the interior pages beyond some minor soiling along the edges.  The corners are solid and not dog eared, and the binding is solid and tight.

This edition includes a four page section of detailed descriptions of the various types of ammunition used with this rifle, an additional 14 pages of ballistic data information and tables, and two fold out plates detailing the Arms Locker and the Arms Chest for the M1903 Rifle.  Despite the minor cosmetic wear, this is still a nice early manual that is not easy to find.  (0407) $55
