MODEL 1885 CAVALRY SABRE SLING SETS:  Offered here are several sets of the Model 1885 Sabre Slings as were issued with the Model 1885 Sabre Belt, the various Cavalry Mills Woven Cartridge Belts, and were also used to suspend the soldiers' sabres from their McClellan Saddles.  These are good sets to complete your sabre belt or cartridge belt, or to complete your saddle.

Each set of slings is described below with accompanying photographs.

NO. 1  MODEL 1885 CAVALRY SABRE SLING SET:  This Model 1885 Sabre Hanger is complete with both straps, both leather keepers and the brass hanger.

Well marked, the brass hook is stamped “RIA” for Rock Island Arsenal, the short strap retains the faint trace of the Rock Island Arsenal stamp, and the body of the long strap is stamped with several unit applied inventory stamps.  The leather still retains a nice bright, shiny surface with some crazing and flexing.  Both straps are full length, supple and have no weak spots.  A very good set.  (0808) $150
