MODEL 1903 OFFICER’S SABER KNOTS – EXCELLENT CONDITION OFFERINGS:  Excellent specimens of the early Twentieth Century officer's sabre knot as illustrated in the 1905 Cavalry manual, these Model 1903 Officer’s Saber Knots will enhance your saber and complete the display.

Each saber knot is described below with accompanying photographs.

No. 1  MODEL 1903 OFFICER'S SABER KNOT:  A personal purchase knot with a slight variation on the regulation pattern, this knot exhibits some evidence of very gentle use, but is still in excellent condition with a medium russet finish. The knot is fully intact with no breaks in the decorative slats, the braided cord is full length with no breaks or weak points, and there is one braided slides present – on this particular knot there may have been only the one slide to begin with, as there is no evidence of another in the way of a depression on the cord.  As with all knots of this pattern, the regulation button piece shown in the manual is absent from this knot, however from the selection of these knots that have survived, including some examples found new in the original box, it appears that while the button piece was part of the original pattern adopted in 1903, it was not used, rather the cord was looped directly through the branches of the saber guard.  This is a very respectable example and an interesting variant.  (0219)  $150

No. 2  MODEL 1903 OFFICER'S SABER KNOT:  The regulation pattern, this knot is in very good  condition, with a bright russet finish and showing only minor signs of wear or age.  The braid above the knot, the full length braided cord, and both braided slides are present and intact.  The regulation button piece as shown in the manual is unusually present on this knot - unusual since from the selection of these knots that have survived, including some examples found new in the original box, this button piece is normally missing.  Part of the original pattern adopted in 1903, the presence of this button piece makes this knot a particularly nice example. (0414)  $175

No. 3  MODEL 1903 OFFICER'S SABER KNOT:  The regulation pattern, this knot is in “like new” condition, with a bright russet finish and showing no signs of wear or age.  The braids above and below the knot, the full length braided cord, and both braided slides are present and intact.  The regulation button piece shown in the manual is absent from this knot, however from the selection of these knots that have survived, including some examples found new in the original box, it appears that while the button piece was part of the original pattern adopted in 1903, it was not used, rather the cord was looped directly through the branches of the saber guard.  A particularly nice example.
