WHITE BUFF SWORD KNOT:  A very nice example of the extremely scarce White Buff Leather Sword Knot.   White Buff Leather items, regulation for the pre-1851 Dragoon period, were for the most part dyed black when the change was ordered in 1851 and relatively few of these early accoutrements survive today in the original white finish.  This specimen measures 20.5” long and 5/8” wide, and is complete with all of the individual leather fringes in the tassel and the sliding loop is present.  The leather is still supple with no damage, breaks or other sign of significant wear.  From all appearances, this knot was not issued, or saw very little use.  $450
