ca. 1900 - 1915 FRANKFORD
ARSENAL .38 cal REVOLVER AMMUNITION PACKETS – VERY GOOD
COMPLETE PACKET WITH ALL 20 CARTRIDGES:
A very nice selection of packets of
.38 Caliber
pistol
ammunition as issued for the .38 caliber revolvers in
use by the U.S. Army
during the early 1900's. These packets were
produced at Frankford Arsenal for a relatively limited
period, with the first .38 caliber smokeless powder
cartridges produced at the arsenal in 1900, and the
final run of these cartridges produced at the arsenal in
1915. Each packet and
crate is described individually below with accompanying
photographs.

ca. 1900 - 1915 FRANKFORD ARSENAL .38 cal
REVOLVER AMMUNITION PACKET – VERY GOOD COMPLETE PACKET
WITH ALL 20 CARTRIDGES: This is a very good
Frankford Arsenal packet of “20 Revolver Ball
Cartridges, Reloading, Smokeless Powder, Caliber .38” as
issued for the US Army
.38 caliber revolvers
between 1900 and 1915. The packet is complete with all
original twenty cartridges.
The labels on the front and rear panels are full form,
complete, and fully legible. The packet is still
sealed, but has some scattered separations around the
top rim of the packet, likely from the pressure of the
combined weight of additional packets as they were
stacked in the wooden shipping crates. Both of the end
panels are fully intact with the cloth pull tabs, and
the bottom of the packet is fully intact. Enough of one
end of the top panel can be sufficiently lifted to view
the bases of the adjacent cartridges which are
headstamped “FA 2 10” indicating they were produced at
Frankford Arsenal in February of 1910.
Once fairly common on the market, these have become
increasingly scarce and difficult to find. This packet
is a very good representative specimen and it will
display well with your pistol. (0315) $125

ca. 1900 - 1915 FRANKFORD ARSENAL .38 cal
REVOLVER AMMUNITION PACKET – EMPTY FULL FORM PACKET:
Although opened and now empty, this is a very
displayable Frankford Arsenal packet of “20 Revolver
Ball Cartridges, Reloading, Smokeless Powder, Caliber
.38” as issued for the US Army .38 caliber revolvers
between 1900 and 1915. The packet is full form, all the
exterior panels and the internal dividers are present,
and both cloth pull tags on the ends are intact. The
front and rear labels are legible with only some minor
loss at the top edge of the front label where the packet
was opened.
Even though this packet is empty, it is otherwise
complete and for some situations or in some
jurisdictions, this packet would make good
representative specimen and a nice addition to a
display. (0319) $55
