FRANKFORD ARSENAL AMMUNITION PACKET.45 REVOLVER
BLANK CARTRIDGES – ca. 1889 – FULL PACKET:
These are full Frankford Arsenal packets of 12 blank rounds of
.45 caliber ammunition issued for the Colt and Smith & Wesson
revolvers in service with the frontier army. Many Indian
War era collectors of do not realize that blank ammunition was a
regular issue item provided to the Cavalry troopers and
it was a very important
and necessary item in order to accustom their horses to gun fire.
I have the following
packets in inventory and each is described below with
accompanying photographs.
