FRANKFORD ARSENAL
TIN OF 500 CARTRIDGE PRIMERS FOR THE .45-70 CARTRIDGES –
FULL TIN WITH ALL THE DIVIDERS AND THE LID - VERY NICE
DISPLAY PIECE:
This tin of cartridge primers was produced by the
Frankford Arsenal during the Indian War Springfield
Trapdoor Rifle and Carbine era. This is the tin of
primers which was issued with the Indian War era
cartridge reloading sets produced at the arsenals and
issued at the unit level to encourage marksmanship in
the ranks.
Complete with the screw
on lid, this tin is full form and is in very good
condition. The label has suffered from some shelf wear,
but enough of the printed legend is still present to
identify the contents and the arsenal’s name. The tin
appears to contain its full complement of primers as
well as retaining the unique string-connected packing
trays which kept the layers of primers in place, and the
cotton pads which protected each layer of primers from
the layers above and below.
This is a relatively
scarce tin, one that does not appear all that often, and
would be an excellent piece to display with your
reloading set or any of the Trapdoor Rifles and
Carbines. (0512) $300
