ORIGINAL PATTERN 1898 NATIONAL EAGLE BADGES AS
WERE WORN ON THE OFFICER'S UNIFORM SHOULDER STRAPS -
EXCELLENT CONDITION: This is an original
pair of the Pattern 1898 National Eagle Badges which
were worn on the shoulder straps of the officer's
uniforms - both on the khaki cotton coats and the dark
blue wool coats.
In use for a very limited amount of time, these original
badges are seldom encountered on the loose. Found
in a very old collection of insignia, these two are not
an exact matched pair, struck from different dies,
but the condition of the two is identical and from all
appearances they have been together since they were used
by the officer. They show very little, if any,
signs of wear or tarnish and both still retain their
bright gilt finish. Both retain the original
and fully functional mounting pins on the reverse.
This is a very nice set to add to your uniform coat.
