UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS TRUMPETER BRASSARDS
1908-1912 - FOR THE FIELD KHAKI AND DRESS WHITE UNIFORMS
– LIKE NEW UNISSUED – EXCELLENT CONDITION:
These original US Marine Corps Trumpeter Brassards were
provided in two styles – one with the background to
match the newly introduced Khaki Field Uniforms and the
other for the White Dress Uniforms. Due to the
relatively small size of the Marine Corps, and the few
musicians, these specialty brassards are relatively
scarce. Limited in use from 1908 to 1912, these
brassards were known as the “First Pattern” and were
subsequently replaced in the course of new uniform
regulations.
These brassards were embroidered with a finished bugle
on both sides of each piece of cloth, so the brassard
could be sewn to either sleeve of the uniform, oriented
with the bell of the bugle forward, and there would be
no need to produce separate brassards for each sleeve.
These are a nice early 20Th Century insignia
to add to your Marine Corps display.

1908-1912 TRUMPETER BRASSARD – WHITE DRESS UNIFORM:
A lighter weight, beige brassard embroidered with a gold
colored bugle. In unissued condition with no no
evidence of use, wear or soiling, however the base
material is quite thin and there is a small split where
the material was folded. This does not affect the
overall appearance, nor does it affect the embroidery.
