MODEL 1855 HARDEE HAT INFANTRY HAT CORD:  Introduced with the Model 1855 Hardee Hat, these Infantry Hat Cords continued in service through the Civil War and on through the Indian War era.

This hat cord apparently was never issued as both of the tassels still retain the original ties.  The cord is full length and shows no evidence of use or wear.  There are two splices on one of the cords, from all appearances done when the cord was manufactured and certainly the efforts of the civilian contractor to use all of his materials and eliminate any waste.  The splices are well done with a matching thread whipped around the joints and very likely, buried in a box of cords, would have escaped the notice of any government inspector.

Infantry Hat Cords have become increasingly less common on the market and this light blue cord will be a nice addition to a Civil War or Indian War collection.  SOLD
