WORLD WAR TWO ERA FRENCH MADE GOGGLES – USED IN CONSIDERABLE NUMBERS BY GERMAN LUFTWAFFE PILOTS AND AIR CREWS – EXCELLENT CONDITION IN THE ORIGINAL TIN:  These are an excellent pair of new old stock goggles which were manufactured in France and are known to have been used extensively during World War Two by German Luftwaffe Pilots and Air Crews for the duration of the war.

Very similar in design to the Luftwaffe Model 306 Aviators Goggles, these French Goggles have the same basic profile and a very similar adjustment bar between the lenses.  From what I have been able to learn, goggles for the German air crews were constantly in short supply and were obtained from a number of different sources, to include these made by the French.  As can be seen in surviving photographs (see below), there is no doubt they were used by the German airmen.

In close to “like new” condition, these goggles have survived with bright metal frames and with the white foam pads in remarkable condition.  There is a little loss at the inner corners of the pads where they appear to have stuck together, probably from being exposed to heat in storage.  Other than that one point, the pads are full form and supple, and the maker’s part and manufacturing numbers which are formed into the rubber are still legible.  Based on the numbers noted on another pair being identical to those on this pair except the last two numbers on that pair were “36” as opposed to the last two numbers on this pair being “43”, I am assuming that is the date of manufacture – this pair being made in 1943.  The steel frames are still bright with no corrosion or misshaping and the amber glass lenses are bright with no sign or wear or scratches.  The brown elastic two-piece head band is full length with no fraying or other signs of wear, and it still retains its elasticity.  The original tin is likewise in excellent condition with no misshaping, and retaining 99% of the original OD green paint on the exterior of the tin.  The interior of the tin is bright with no corrosion.

Overall, this is a very nice set of aviation goggles known to have been used by German aviators during World War Two. (0112) $175
