MODEL 1855 INFANTRY FORAGE CAP OR KEPI INSIGNIA –
ORIGINAL: An original Model 1855 Infantry Kepi
or Forage Cap Insignia, as issued through the Civil War
and into the early years of the Indian War period.
The large brass hunting horn pattern, which was affixed
to the crown of the Infantry Soldier’s hat, measures 3
5/8” long and 1 ¾” high.
This item is unissued old, original stock, in like new
condition and has both of the attaching loops present on
the reverse. There is minor tarnishing in two
spots, but overall this insignia retains its original
bright polish.
Once fairly common, these are one of those items which
has begun to be difficult to find. This insignia
will be a nice addition to your Civil War Infantry
uniform and equipment collection. (0422) $60
