MODEL 1888 ROD BAYONET
TRAPDOOR CLEANING ROD TIP:
The Model 1888 Springfield “Rod Bayonet” Rifle featured
a combination round bayonet and cleaning rod. When the
rod was employed as a cleaning rod, it required a
specially designed threaded tip that attached to the
lower end of the rod, which was carried in the butt trap
with the headless shell extractor and the Model 1879
This tip features clear,
sharp checkering and still retains much of its original
blue armory applied finish.
These tips have become
increasingly difficult to find on the loose and are a
necessary appendage to complete your Model 1888 Rifle.
