MODEL 1855 .58 CALIBER U.S. RIFLE AND RIFLE MUSKET BALL
SCREW—LATER VERSION ca. 1862: This is the
later version, ca. 1862, of the .58 caliber U.S. Rifle
and Rifle Musket Ball Screw, identified by the square
shoulders. Used to extract the ball from the
loaded rifle without firing the weapon, every soldier
carried one of these in his cartridge box. In
excellent condition with a full threaded tip and in full
form with much of the original arsenal finish present,
this is a very nice specimen. (1015)
