MODEL 1868 COMBINATION TOOL: As pictured
on page 88 of Gun Tools, Their History and
Identification, Shaffer, Rutledge, and Dorsey this
Model 1868 Rifle Combination Screwdriver is one of the
scarcer gun tools of the early Indian War period.
Manufactured at the arsenals, Model 1855 Combination
Cone Wrench and Screwdriver were modified by removing
the cone wrench, no longer necessary with the metallic
cartridge rifles, resulting in these Model 1868 Tools.
In excellent condition, this Model 1868 Combination
Screwdriver still retains much of the original arsenal
blue and will make a nice accessory for your Model 1868
