HALL CARBINE WIPER – EXTREMELY RARE HALL
APPENDAGE: Virtually never seen on the
loose and only found in the most advanced tool and Hall
Firearms collections, this Hall Carbine Wiper was
provided with the M1840 and/or M1843 Hall Carbines
manufactured by Simeon North. This wiper features
a bright surface with only slight scattered surface
pitting, clear strong threads. Both tines are
present, but the tip of one tine is broken, a typical
characteristic as tips of the tines on many of the
extant specimens of this tool are broken off. As
pictured on page 100 of Gun Tools, Their History and
Identification, by Shaffer, Rutledge, and Dorsey, this
wiper is unmarked as is correct. This is a
credible specimen fresh from an old, very advanced
collection, and you are not likely to find another of
these rare wipers offered in the foreseeable future.
