FRANKFORD ARSENAL .50-70 AMMUNITION RESIZING DIE -
VERY SCARCE INDIAN WAR ERA RELOADING TOOL:
These dies were manufactured by
the Frankford Arsenal as part of the reloading sets issued to the troops for
reloading .50 caliber rifle ammunition at the unit
level. Intended to reduce the cost of ammunition
used for target practice, these early dies are quite
scarce, particularly to find on the loose outside of a
complete set.
Measuring 1.5" long and 1” in diameter, this piece is
stamped “ANVIL”, and
“OAL” on the face of the die. In very good condition, this piece
shows little evidence of use and retains a bright clear
finish on all the machined surfaces.
This is a very nice early accessory to display with any
of the .50 caliber Springfield arms.
