REMINGTON PERCUSSION REVOLVER COMBINATION TOOL –
FOR THE .44 ARMY PISTOL AND THE .36 NAVY PISTOL:
As described on page 206, Gun Tools, Their History
and Identification, Shaffer, Rutledge, and Dorsey,
this combination tool was provided with the Remington
Army .44 Caliber and Navy .36 Caliber Pistols.
Featuring a cone wrench on one end and a screwdriver
blade on the other, this “L” shaped tool provided the
soldier with the tools necessary to dismount and clean
his revolver. In excellent condition, this tool shows
little evidence of wear and still retains much of the
original case colored finish. This is a relatively
scarce tool with an apparently low survival rate, and
one that would display nicely with the Remington
revolvers in use during the Civil War and early Indian
Wars.
