WORLD WAR TWO US ARMY MOUNTAIN TROOPS SHELTER HALF THREE POLE SET – MAKER MARKED AND DATED:  This set of unique pattern poles was issued to the Mountain Troops of World War Two, such as the famous 10th Mountain Division.  Each soldier was issued a shelter half and this three sections set that assembled into the pole for one end of the assembled tent when combined with the matching set of equipment carried by his “Bunkie”.  This matching set of three sections is complete with the iron reinforcing collars, and on one end section is fitted with the single metal tip and the other end section is fitted with the metal rope loop.  The wooden shafts are all full length, and in excellent condition with no cracks, splits or other damage.  The middle section is ink stamped “U.S. FRANKLIN PICTURE FRAME CO. 1943”.  An issue item unique to the mountain troops and quite different from the standard issue pole sets issued to the rank and file troops, these mountain troop shelter half poles are not commonly found in complete sets and in this remarkable condition, and will be a nice addition to your World War Two field campaign display.  (0503) $75
