WORLD WAR TWO US ARMY MOUNTAIN TROOPS SHELTER HALF
THREE POLE SET – MAKER MARKED AND DATED: This
set of unique pattern poles was issued to the Mountain
Troops of World War Two, such as the famous 10th
Mountain Division. Each soldier was issued a shelter
half and this three sections set that assembled into the
pole for one end of the assembled tent when combined
with the matching set of equipment carried by his
“Bunkie”. This matching set of three sections is
complete with the iron reinforcing collars, and on one
end section is fitted with the single metal tip and the
other end section is fitted with the metal rope loop.
The wooden shafts are all full length, and in excellent
condition with no cracks, splits or other damage. The
middle section is ink stamped “U.S. FRANKLIN PICTURE
FRAME CO. 1943”. An issue item unique to the mountain
troops and quite different from the standard issue pole
sets issued to the rank and file troops, these mountain
troop shelter half poles are not commonly found in
complete sets and in this remarkable condition, and will
be a nice addition to your World War Two field campaign
