WORLD WAR TWO US ARMY AIR
CORPS SURVIVAL KIT SIGNALING MIRROR:
An integral component of every air crewman’s survival
kit, this Signaling Mirror allowed a downed airman to
attract the attention of, and communicate with, search
and rescue crews via a Morse code system of dots and
dashes sent via reflections of the sun on the mirror. A
clear circle in the center of the mirror allowed the
sender to “sight” the mirror on the intended receiver in
order to be sure the flashes were directed in the right
direction.
These Signaling Mirrors are
appropriate to display with other US Army Air Corps
equipment.
