SECRETARY OF
WAR'S REPORT TO CONGRESS
1852-53 - US ARMY CHIEF OF ORDNANCE REPORT:
A scarce original printing of
The Report of the Secretary of War for the years 1852-53, printed
by Robert Armstrong, in Washington, consisting of 686 pages and
numerous data tables.
This comprehensive
report contains the detailed reports from the various
Military Departments such as Texas and Oregon, as well
as departmental reports from the Quartermaster General,
Paymaster General, Commissary General, Surgeon General,
Colonel of Engineers, Colonel of Topographical
Engineers, and the Colonel of Ordnance.
An ex libris edition,
this volume shows the expected wear of 170 years, but it
still retains its original cover boards with the
original gilt title printing on the spine. The
binding is still quite strong with no weakness or
breaking. All of the pages are still intact with
no loss, and a number of the pages have some minor
foxing due to age.
This is a valuable
reference from the mid 1800's and reflects the condition
and staffing of the army just prior to the Civil War.
