AMBROTYPE OF A CIVIL WAR UNION SOLDIER – ARMED:  A 1/6th plate ambrotype, three-quarter view of a tall, bearded Civil War Union Soldier, standing straight and proud in his uniform frock coat, and fully armed with his musket, cartridge box and bayonet.  The soldier’s frock coat buttons and his belt and cartridge box shoulder strap plate have all been hand tinted in gold.  The image is clear and undamaged, firmly in place behind its original glass and held in place behind the gilt oval metal trim in the case.  The case has seen wear, but is still intact as is the cloth tape hinge.  The red velvet lining of the cover is present and in nice condition.  Both the cover and image case are solid and not broken or loose.  The exterior leatherette covering of the case shows some wear, but it is still intact.  This is a fresh image out of an old Texas collection.  (1013)  $250
