1909 OKLAHOMA STOLEN HORSE
ALERT – POST CARD MESSAGE SENT TO AREA SHERIFFS – THIS
CARD SENT FROM SHERIFF LOUTHAN OF GRADY COUNTY,
CHICKASHA, OKLAHOMA TO THE SHERIFF IN VERNON, TEXAS:
This “wanted” postcard is a nice snapshot of the methods
of law enforcement in the first decade of the 20TH
Century. Sent as noted above in the heading, this
postcard served as a report and offer of a reward for
the recovery of a stolen horse and saddle, and
the reward payable only for the return of both the horse
AND the thief to Sheriff Louthan of Grady
County, Chickasha, Oklahoma. Great law enforcement
piece from the stretch between Oklahoma and Texas.
