CIVIL WAR CARTE DE VISTE – TWO VETERAN SOLDIERS,
POSSIBLY BROTHERS – OHIO PHOTOGRAPHER: These
two resemble each other so closely as to give the
appearance of being brothers. Both are wearing what
appear to be civilian shirts and vests, but both are
also wearing uniform trousers evidenced by the presence
of the stripe down each leg. This image gives the
impression of a “home safely at last” type of photograph
and may have been taken when the two men returned from
the Civil War. The reverse of the CDV bears the name of
the photographer, “W. H. Lockhart’s Gallery, Bryan,
Ohio”. This CDV is in very good to excellent condition,
with no edge wear or damage and no bends or damage to
the corners.
