WORLD WAR TWO US ARMY “CARLISLE” FIRST AID
PACKETS: As issued to the individual soldier
and carried by the Combat Field Medics in their
specially designed belts, these are the various first
aid packets carried by the troops during World War Two.
These are a nice selection to add to your combat
soldier’s display or your medical collection.
I
have the following packets available, shown below with
full descriptions and accompanying photographs, and each
is priced individually.

WORLD WAR TWO US ARMY “CARLISLE” FIRST AID PACKET
– "LIKE NEW" UNISSUED CONDITION - PAINTED RED TO INDICATE PACKET CONTAINS SULFANILAMIDE:
I've acquired a small number of these in like new,
unissued condition. Other than some minor scuffing
to the paint due to shifting in the original carton,
these are in as close to mint condition as is possible
after some 70 years. No dents or other damage and the
paint still retains its original gloss.
This World War Two vintage US Army Carlisle First Aid
Packet still retains 100% of the original red paint over
the brass canister, indicating that this packet
contained Sulfanilamide, as opposed to those dressings
that did not contain this drug. The pull tab is present and intact,
and has not been pulled to open the packet, leaving the
seam sealed and intact. Manufactured by Bauer and Black
of Chicago, Illinois, the embossed nomenclature and
maker’s information on the top of the canister is
legible and complete. These red painted packets are far
less common than the standard green painted packets.
While they last - $25

WORLD WAR TWO US ARMY “CARLISLE” FIRST AID PACKET
– PAINTED RED TO INDICATE PACKET CONTAINS SULFANILAMIDE:
This World War Two vintage US Army Carlisle First Aid
Packet still retains 99% of the original red paint over
the brass canister, indicating that this packet
contained Sulfanilamide, as opposed to those dressings
that did not contain this drug. Measuring 4” by 2 ¼”,
this packet is full form with only one minor dent on a
back corner – all seem to have some dents due to the
soft brass body. The pull tab is present and intact,
and has not been pulled to open the packet, leaving the
seam sealed and intact. Manufactured by Bauer and Black
of Chicago, Illinois, the embossed nomenclature and
maker’s information on the top of the canister is
legible and complete. These red painted packets are far
less common than the standard green painted packets.

WORLD WAR
TWO US ARMY “CARLISLE” FIRST AID PACKET – GLOSSY DARK
GREEN PAINT: As issued to the individual
soldier and carried by the Combat Field Medics in their
specially designed belts, this World War Two vintage US
Army Carlisle First Aid Packet still retains the
majority of the original glossy dark green paint over
the aluminum canister. The back of the canister is
embossed “With Crystalline Sulfanilamide”, another type
of labeling other than the red painted packets that
contained this drug. Measuring 4” by 2 ¼”, this packet
is full form with a shallow dent on the front where the
pouch fastener was pushed down as the pouch was
secured. The pull tab is present and intact, and has
not been pulled to open the packet, leaving the seam
sealed and intact. Manufactured by Bauer and Black of
Chicago, Illinois, the embossed nomenclature and maker’s
information on the top of the canister is legible and
complete. Less common than the flat OD green painted
packets. $20

WORLD WAR
TWO US ARMY “CARLISLE” FIRST AID PACKET – PAINTED FLAT
OD GREEN: In excellent condition, this World
War Two vintage US Army Carlisle First Aid Packet still
retains 100% of the original OD green paint. The back
of the canister is embossed “With Crystalline
Sulfanilamide”, another type of labeling other than the
red painted packets that contained this drug. Measuring
4” by 2 ¼”, this packet is full form with no dents or
scratches. The pull tab is present and intact, and has
not been pulled to open the packet, leaving the seam
sealed and intact. Manufactured by Handy Pad Supply
Company of Worchester, Massachusetts and also identified
on the back to Conray Products Company of New York, the
embossed nomenclature and maker’s information on the
front and back of the canister is legible and complete
(perhaps one made the canister and the other made the
bandage). $15

WORLD WAR TWO US ARMY “CARLISLE” FIRST AID PACKET
– CELLOPHANE WRAPPED PACKET FOR THE POCKETED MEDICAL
PERSONNEL BELTS AND COMBAT MEDIC BAGS:
This cellophane wrapped,
cardboard boxed World War Two vintage US Army Carlisle
First Aid Packet is identical in content to those
packaged in the brass and aluminum containers with the
pull rings, however these packets were intended for
issue to Medical Department personnel and were to be
carried in the multi-pocketed Mills Medical Belts or in
the Combat Medic’s shoulder bags. As a result of the
paper vs. metal packaging, these individual dressing
packets did not survive the passage of time as well, and
are considerably less common today than those packaged
in the brass containers.
Manufactured by Convenience Inc. of Greenville, South
Carolina, this packet is in excellent condition, with
the cellophane wrapper still sealed and the box is full
form with no misshaping. $15
